GS1 – “how we got here” | 40th anniversary retrospective

GS1 is a neutral, not-for-profit, international organisation that develops and maintains standards across the world. GS1 has over a million employee companies across the world, executing more than six billion transactions daily using GS1 standards.

We were hired by sandbox to turn the barcode into art (which arguably it already is) for this 40th anniversary retrospective. We creative directed the visual and motion design. We decided to pay modernist homage to the barcode and it’s fundamental brutalist simplicity. It is an exercise is grid theory and design rationalism.

A project done for Los Angeles based sandboxla and GS1.
